More than 97 percent of the state's energy currently comes from dirty, dangerous sources of energy, including nuclear power and the burning of fossil fuels. Environment Georgia is working to create a new energy future for Georgia, in which we are more reliant on clean, renewable energy sources like wind and solar, and take advantage of energy efficient technologies to reduce our overall energy demand.

Georgia Power, our state’s largest, privately-owned, energy provider, recently unveiled their long-term energy plan which prioritized dirty energy sources as opposed to clean and renewable sources.
