The one person who could ease America's pain at the pump
Last December, Congress passed an Environment Georgia-backed
increase in gas mileage standards — the first in 30 years. But it’s up
to Nicole Nason’s department to implement the rule. Congress required
Nason to set the highest gas mileage standard that’s technologically
and economically feasible, but no less than 35 mpg by 2020. But her
agency's plan is too slow and too low. E-mail Administrator Nason and tell her to raise gas mileage standards now.

Saving national forests
Thanks to our federation’s work, more than 1.5 million citizens
nationwide called on the Clinton administration to protect pristine
areas in our national forests, resulting in the Roadless Rule. When the
Bush administration attempted to overturn the rule, we worked with
governors in seven states to petition to protect their forests.
